2012 Nissan Altima batttery went dead for remote start.

2012 Nissan Altima batttery went dead for remote start. stuck key in the key port and it will not release the key. car wont start. monitor is telling me to pull the key out and it will not come out.
JA: Did you test the battery with a voltmeter? And have you ever changed one before?
Customer: where is that tension tag?
JA: Are you fixing your Altima yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I am sorry I did not see your response. What is the voltmeter?
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: are you still available?

Hey there thanks for the question. Back when the I-Key first came oitni used to see this ALOT. You supposed to put the whole FOB in the slot not the mechanical key, there is a little eject spring at the bottom of the port and that's what the key is getting stuck on.
What you need is to wrap some tape around the head of the key to protect it, get a pair of pliers and a small flathead screwdriver. Use the screwdriver to press directly inward at the base of the key while pulling and jiggling the the key and it will come out. May take a few tries as it's tricky but it works.
