Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

I'm uncertain exactly what your symptoms are. You mention a gear selection problem making it appear that you have an issue with the shifter, but I'm wondering if the problem is that the transmission does not upshift while driving. If it does not upshift it could be an internal failure or it could be in limp in due to an electrical issue.

Can you describe exactly what symptoms you're having?
