Nissan Repair Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Does the check engine light come on when this happens?
I suspect an issue with your mass air flow sensor, of course the bad part is if it's not acting up it's just about impossible to tell if it's the problem. One method you can personally try if it happens when you are with the car is to unplug the sensor. Then try to start the car, if it starts right up, then it is the problem.
Also, ask your mechanic if he can try a throttle position relearn on the car. It's possible it's flooding out or the throttle isn't setting properly when the engine is warm once in a while.
It's a very difficult issue to resolve without the codes so you might have to do a little testing on your own to try and get to the bottom of it until its more consistent.
