Hi there,

Is this the factory alarm?
Did you use the key to unlock the driver side door?

Usually this happens when the wiring on the back of the lock cylinder fails and either rusts off or is to corroded and causes a short.

Try unlocking the passenger side door with the key. Lock all the doors, then use the key to unlock the passenger side. Hold it in the unlock position for about 10 seconds then release it. If the lock cylinder and wiring is good on the passenger side this should reset the alarm so you can start the car.

ignition cylinder or door lock (lock cylinder) because the ignition switch is new
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Door lock cylinder.

Although if you changed the ignition and you have a security light on this car the key will need programming.

it's not that kind of key it's a 99 and just a key w/ no frills
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Then you're all good there, but if you set off the alarm with the door key, then it's got to be turned off. It just might work if the passenger side isn't corroded, then it should reset the factory alarm.

When the alarm is going off, does the head lights flash or the parking lights?
