Customer Question

The ck engine light came on and the computer ck said the converter is bad. The light went off and has not come on again in a week! One mechanic said it may never come on again or it could meaning the converter should be replaced. Should we replace or wait to see? Very expensive! 2009 is the year, 108'000 miles.
JA: Has your vehicled stalled? Has anyone run a diagnostic test to pull the trouble code?
Customer: It has not stalled and yes we ran two tests, both indicating the converter, but no ck light yet.
JA: What is the model of your '09 Nissan?
Customer: Murano
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No fixing ourselves! Haven't tried anything.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: We got two estimates: $600 and $725 to replace.

Hi, welcome to Just Answer. I’m Ron and I’ll be helping you
Before we get started though, Please understand that I don't know
your skill level or tools you have to assist us. Also understand that
I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the vehicle either, so patience is
appreciated. JA is a great Q/A site, but it does NOT replace a
repair shop.
My goal is to make you happy and get a great rating in return for
my time. Sometimes I have to give you bad news that I know you
didn’t want to hear, so please don’t shoot the messenger.

Possibly, if the rear O2 sensor is reporting properly. Could just be a bad O2 sensor too. The only way to find that out is with a scope.

See attachment.

Thanks, Ron
