I have the service Engine Soon light on my car, it is not

Customer Question

HI I have the service Engine Soon light on my car, it is not blinking. I drive a 2008 Nissan Altima.
JA: Do you have the trouble code? Do you have a code reader or scan tool?
Customer: the code that appeared were P1778 and P0710
JA: I'll pass this info along to the Nissan Mechanic so that he can get you a quick fix. Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: The car is driving completely fine.

I just want to know what to expect.

It looks like you are experiencing the transmission failure that is typical of these vehicles. Fortunately this transmission is covered under an extended warranty. If you are under 120k miles and 10 years the transmission will be covered under a factory warranty.

That being said, if the only code you are seeing is a p1778 (p0710 just indicates that the transmission detected a fault-nothing specific) it might just go away unless it is an active code. I would probably still take it to Nissan and have them address the transmission under the extended warranty if it still applies to your milage.
