on the old pathfinders the starter should be by the oil filter on the passengers side.

All you have to do is remove the passengers side tire and access the 14mm bolts and remove them. Once the starter is loose you can turn it and move it towards the front of the vehicle where you can see the connectors and disconnect them. Then it will fit right up behind the radiator.
