I am trying to get the backseat to fold down but there isn't

Customer Question

I am trying to get the backseat to fold down but there isn't a hinge to do so. I have a 2011 Nissan Sentra SE-R and it is not equipped with a release hinge on the back seats. I cannot get my trunk to open with either the trunk button, the button on my key lock nor the floor release. There appears to be a section between my rear speakers but it won't open either.

hello my name is ***** ***** thank you for your question.

The truck valet switch is in the glove box. Did you try that?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
There isn't a valet button in the glove compartment

i thought the SE-R's had it there. Then it's on the latch.

Ok, well if you need to gain access to the trunk then the back seat will need to be removed so you can reach in and pull the emergency release. Hang on while I get this for you.

Great! And there is a small cover on the back window panel where the speakers are.

That is the whole rear seat section from the service manual.

That should help you remove the back seat to access the trunk.

Do you have any more questions on this?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Wow, was hoping I didn't have to take the whole seat out but I guess I must!
Expert:  Jay replied 1 year ago.

The seat bottom for sure needs to be removed. Then if you can at least get one of the rear fold down seats out or down, then you can reach into the trunk and pull the emergency release.
