Have a 99 frontier no start & blows meter fuse any

Customer Question

I have seen this quite a few times on the pathfinders and frontiers.

In the left kick panel there is a w/b wire inside the harness that is known to chaffe to ground. It gets pulled taught at the securing bracket and chaffes and the end result is a meter fuse that keeps blowing and either a vehicle that won't start, or one that starts, then blows the fuse and won't restart.

Chase this wire and repair and you should be good to go.

Please remember to leave me a kind rating. thanks.

Expert:  Jake replied 1 year ago.

Did you find and fix the wire i mentioned?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Wire was not broken or chafed
Expert:  Jake replied 1 year ago.

That wire is the ONLY common occurrence for meter fuse issues other than a short in the meter or ignition switch itself.

Your going to have to find out whats shorting the meter fuse

Expert:  Jake replied 1 year ago.

sounds good.

I assume that when you turn to start it does nothing at all? no clicking or cranking of the engine? just blows the meter fuse and nothing else?

Expert:  Jake replied 1 year ago.

can you give me the number from the diagram? is it number 12?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No # ***** says A T contact 7.5a
Expert:  Jake replied 1 year ago.

i know yours doesnt have a #. thats why I sent you a diagram

Expert:  Jake replied 1 year ago.

so you could match the diagram with your fuse panel and tell me which # ***** is, instead of the name.

12 fuse also truck is a 5 speed
Expert:  Jake replied 1 year ago.

go figure, i assumed this was the PNP switch and that fuse would have been it if it was an Auto.

Expert:  Jake replied 1 year ago.

There are quite a few other things on this circuit. i can show you if you don't have the diagram.

Expert:  Jake replied 1 year ago.
