Customer Question

The ECM on my 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8L engine died. I bought a new ECM and installed it. All the lights, bells and whistles came on, but the car won't start. It acts like it's trying to, but won't complete the process. I had the battery checked and charged because the car has been sitting for a few months. Still won't start.
My question is: does the ECM need to be programmed to get the car to start and to make sure that all electrical items are programmed correctly? Do I need to have the car taken to a dealer to have that done?

Hello my name is ***** ***** thank you for your question.

When you turn the key to the ON position, is your security light ON Solid?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Where is the security light?

Yeah, I feel stupid right now... LOL

I forget on your car. It is either in the dash area, top of the dash or some where on the side.

Another way to try to locate it is to lock the car with the key. The light should turn solid for 10 to 20 seconds then start to flash.

Just checked. If you look on the top of the dash by the defrost vent, the security light is up there.
