What causes the cvt transmission on my daughters 2010 Nissan

Customer Question

What causes the cvt transmission on my daughters 2010 Nissan Rogue to reduce power when on long road trips. I have seen a multitude of complaints online about it.

The CVT is SOMETIMES known to develop a fluid temp logic issue.

What that means is the TCM thinks the transmission fluid temp is reaching dangerous levels and the transmission goes into fail safe. This prevents you from accelerating.

The fix is to install an external cooler that keeps temps down, and will never happen again.

Its not very common to be honest, but if it does happen its about a $700 repair parts and labor installed.
