This answer was rated:

I just bought a used 2010 Nissan Altima a week ago and yesterday when I pressed the push to start button it wouldn't crank; but when I pressed it a second time it would work. It is still doing that today; what do you think it could be?

did the car start at all

When I press the push to start it wouldn't but when I do it a second time it works.

It doesn't start the first time but the second time it does start.

this is most likely cause by a bad brake light switch look to see if you have a signal telling you to press the brake when trying to start if you do the brake switch is bad and will need to be replace .
