Hello,I would recommend that the best way to avoid the issue all together is to by-pass the radiator trans cooler and install a aftermarket external trans cooler,they are avilable at RV stores or online at a 4wd store.The problem is the cooler in the radiator leaks allowing coolant to get into trans fluid,ruining trans.If you dont have fluid going in there you wont have to worry about it,Let me know what you think

The Pathfinder already has an external trans cooler in addition to the cooler inside the radiator. Are you suggesting a second one? With the space needed for the first cooler and your suggestion for a 2 d cooler (and fan?) How would we calculate whether we are meeting the AT requirements for cooling?

Since the transcooler is in front of the radiator, where would the second one be installed..Is there room? Are you a nissan mechanic? Have you worked on replacing the Nissan radiators? One concern I have if I do decide to replace the radiator is that I not make the mistake of putting a defective radiator in again

I also would ask if you have any response to my other questions ie : special installation considerations on the radiator for Pathfinder, Hw large the external or internal trans cooler should be. What brand or model of radiator failed on the 2005 Pathfinder, approximate cost of bypassing and installing another external cooler.

I would recommend using only the aftermarket cooler,they come in different sizes and the smallest would work for your needs,I feel that if the external cooler on the truck already was sufficient,why would they have two coolers to begin with.I have been a nissan/infinti master tech for 15 years and a technician for 25,I have replaced several radiators along with the transmission,Nissan uses Clasonic radiators,and I believe that the replacement part is updated,Nissan really does not tell us that but one would assume.I can get a part# tommorow if you would like!I will look up some prices for the extrnal cooler and get back to you in a while

There is a site called etrailer.com.they have what you need have people to talk to and some good info on the home page,plus there are many more if you google 2005 nissan pthfinder trans cooler,Approx cost $60-100 depending on brand and make,I believe the updaed radiator from nissan is approx $500
