This code sets when the engine coolant temperature does not increase enough to open the thermostat even though the engine runtime has exceeded the specified time period. The most common fix for this code is a faulty thermostat.

Possible Causes
  • Check for low coolant level or an incorrect coolant mixture
  • Check the operation of the thermostat (it may be stuck open)
  • ECT sensor connector is damaged (check pins for damage, and for moisture)
  • ECT sensor signal circuit has a high resistance condition
  • ECT sensor has failed (it may be contaminated or skewed)
  • PCM has failed
