Heater does not heat at low rpm (idle)..coolant..vacuum line

Customer Question

Heater does not heat at low rpm (idle) but fine >2000 rpm. Not low on coolant. Don't know about water valve but where it "might" be the vacuum line seems secure. 2005 Altima 2.5L

You have a air lock in the cooling system , what I do is jack up the front of the car with the radiator cap off with a coolant funnel on top of radiator with coolant in it raise the cap above the engine, so the air will go to the highest point to get air out , let it idle with heater on until it start to blow warm then the air is all out, then put the cap back on , if it does it again you could have a head gasket starting to go letting air into the system, Thanks let me know if you have more questions, ROY!

not a good way to jack car, did move it to an incline (only moderate), cap seems to be above engine. Expelled small amount of coolant (maybe 1/2 cup), but still problem before and after replacing cap. warms up nicely at 1500 rpm, cools slightly below 1000, the heating/cooling is within 10-15 sec. thoughts?

You still have air in system you will need to get it bled out so the heater will work correctly. Thanks ROY!

Got it jacked up on more incline, ran @ higher rpm to get airlock out. now it heats at idle, but not as much as when at 2500-3000. is this normal? thanks for your help, Roy.

It will not get as hot as when rpm is up, but if warm at idle you are ok, Thanks ROY!
