2002 infiniti i35, smart entry control unit ticking with ignition off. clicking stops when in on position. Power completely gone, no lights, no dash lights, will not crank.
JA: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?
Customer: No power as in totally dead battery
JA: Are you fixing your I35 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: tried to jump start it but was unsuccesful
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

What you're describing are expected symptoms with a dead battery. There are many variables which make jump starting unreliable. If you don't see any visible wiring or connection issues and the battery terminals are clean and tight then I would recommend either swapping in a known good battery or having this battery load tested. Most big chain parts stores such a Autozone or even Wal-Mart will load test batteries for free.
