Hello my name is ***** ***** thank you for your question.

Does the radio come on but has no sound? Can you change stations?

Has all fuses been checked with a test light?

I have one trick we would need to try. If that doesn't work, then we may need to get more involved. Meaning remove the radio and check for power using a volt meter.

So what I would like you to do is what they call a Hard Reset. This is when you disconnect the negative battery cable for 15 mins. Then connect it.

So give that a try and see if radio operation returns and let me know..

Working on that now

Nothing after the hard restart
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

Was that 15 mins?

do you have a volt meter and can you read a wiring diagram?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Sorry not that technical
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

Well if all fuses are good, and the hard reset did not work, the next thing to do is the pin test at the audio unit to see if it's getting all it's signals. If it is, then it could be a internal fault in the radio.

Did any one suggest that could be your issue?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
No, how do you do a pin test?
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

The Radio is removed and while the radio is plugged in you take voltage readings with a volt meter at particular wires going into the radio using the wiring diagram to see which are power and ground. So you would check all the voltage signals, and ground. If they are all present, then the problem is the audio unit. If they are missing, then it could be a display control module. But the proper steps need to be done to isolate the issue.

Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

It maybe cheaper in the long run to have it checked to isolate whether the radio is bad or not instead of changing parts and having the same results. The dealer would be the best place for this.

Do you have any more questions on this?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
how much would a dealer charge to check this out?
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

Normally they would start with 1 hour labor to diagnose the issue. The dealers labor rates are around 120 dollars a hour.
