Customer Question

I have 2003 infiniti i35. Dash light were blinking and then went out. Thought it be dimmer switch checked dimmer switch plug no power. Thought it would fuse #12 on j/b board. Changed but no results. My board shows a elecrontic parts Bat 10A in Black. I am wondering if this is a relay instead of a fuse. I took pix if you want me to send u. Aslo lost running lights but found #60 fuse 10A blown, and replaced. Checked j/b fuse 1,10,13 all ok.
JA: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?
Customer: power loss maybe a little
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I was trying to get lights back on dash
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: no

Hello and welcome to Justanswer!

All illumination is powered by the tail lamp relay and is protected by the same fuse. If you lost all illumination yet the park lamps work then a blown fuse or power distribution issue are possible but if the problem involves only the instrument cluster illumination then the problem is either an internal failure in the cluster or a wiring issue to the cluster.

Does all other illumination work (radio, a/c control head, etc) work, or does nothing illuminate at all?

I have some lights. a/c, clock. The dimmer switch (ill control switch) control lights to dash or only to all other switch lights? Hazard, heated steering, glove, rear sunshade, etc. are off. I guess I need to (by my schematic) have a break in line from tail lamp relay to dimmer switch? If so, where could a get power from to supply dimmer switch.

Is the only problem with instrument cluster illumination?
