I assume you mean the A/C is cutting off on you?
What year and model is the car please?

Usually when this happens it's one of two things.

First, make sure that both cooling fans are coming on when the compressor cycles. If not, then the hot freon is developing to much pressure and the pressure switch is turning off the compressor.

If both fans are working, then usually it's to much dirt in the cooling fins or between the radiator and the condenser. You can usually separate them and use a garden hose to clean the fins out. This will clean it up so you have good air flow again and that will cool the freon so the pressure will drop and the compressor won't turn off.
