What is the difference in dash harnesses from 08 g37 manual

Customer Question

What is the difference in dash harnesses from 08 g37 manual and auto?

Hello my name is ***** ***** thank you for your question. There is allot different. If you have a Automatic transmission harness, the harness is laid out for control units to communicate with the Automatic Transmission control unit. When you have a Manual Trans, there is no wires looking for a Automatic transmission. Do you have any more questions on this?

Im doing a harness swap. To add navigation to my g37. Everything fits in its place. Theres a few connectors that i couldnt exactly figure out. Im guessing for the paddle shifters in steering wheel and the seat heaters (one harness is laid out for knob kind and the other for regular hi & lo). Besides that everything turned on except for the car. On cluster display screen, it shows the regular message to push clutch and then the start button. But its not reading the clutch switch on the pedal. Is there a way to bypass that or there something im missing?

Wow, this is nuts to change all that for Navigation. The AV unit when the car has Navigation requires all the other control units in the CAN system to be configured to communicate with it. This type of thing you are doing will require checks to see if other computers need to be re-configured or replaced to accept the navigation. Also don't forget the GPS Antenna. That gets mounted onto the dash pad. Does the ignition turn on?

Yes. Everything turns on. All AC controls, all cluster lights, everything went back into place and is fully functional. Ignition turns on to the acc position and on position. Just wont turn the actual car on. Like it doesnt get the signal from the clutch being pressed

When you turn the car off does the steering wheel lock? Was this car once a Automatic? and you made it a stick?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yes steering wheel does lock. Car has been manual all its life as far as i know.

the Main dash harness you installed, do you know for sure that is for a Manual transmission?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Its for an automatic. Like i stated in the beginning of our conversation.

Oh.. That harness will not work. It is looking for a Automatic Park / Neutral signal from the TCM. You need a Manual transmission Harness. I said it would not work. Do you have any more questions on this?

As far as the auto harness. Can it be broken down and just take out the harnesses that power on the unit? Same with manual harness. Take out the unit harnesses and replace them with the ones from the auto

no it can not. There is just to many extra wires and connector configurations that are different. There is no way to exactly be able to determine all the differences between the two. When I say connector configurations, it doesn't mean the connectors are different, just that the wiring layout on the connector may be different. Do you have any more questions on this?
