1998 Infiniti i30t Radiator fans come on a startup.

Customer Question

1998 Infiniti i30t Radiator fans come on a startup.
Observation: This is intermittent. When on at startup engine does not
warm at all. Other times, they do not come on and operating temp
in time raises to normal. Also when at temp there is a strong 'burning'
smell. Somewhat like if oil were spilled onto the manifold. I replaced
the blower motor resistor for the cabin blower. I guess I need to understand
what controls the radiator fans, where is it located, and if any aspect of that
fan control failing would produce a burning smell. Can you help me with this?
