I've had an issue at the local New World, while using their self checkouts I mistakenly did not scan 1 item. As I have never been trained to use these I wouldve thought a friendly refresh wouldve been adequate but instead apprehended at checkouts by store security, in front of everyone as I'm at checkouts & in a small town that's a big thing as I'm being publicly humiliated. Store security then begging filling out a trespass notice also pointing out that the paper bag I have put my shopping in is unpaid. To which I said there is no clear price tag & they are outside the checkouts, ie you go through checkouts to paid area & that's where the bag stand is.

I explained that the mis scan was an accident & that I've seen their own checkout girls do the same thing.

I've rung management & tried to discuss matter but he says hes watched cctv footage & trespass stands. I've been doing some reading on the topic & it says if the customer did not show to be handling the product abnormal to 'usual' ie remove from pack, in my pocket not the basket then trespass is justified but I did none of those things, I fact all normal except I did not scan 1 item. Add to that I was sick & it's easy to do. I wouldve thought a common mistake @ self checkouts but stead I'm a shoplifter

That's about it mate, it's the only supermarket in town. It's a hell of an inconvienince & very unfair. I also question their practice of initiating conversation out in full view of all to see, rumors & small town next thing as a self employed Builder I'm out of work. Detrimental to me & my family
