Travel. Online. Travel agent. The quick version is: I think
The quick version is: I think either the agency or the airline is fudging the details to avoid giving me a refund or talking about ways to make a credit agreement more usable. In July, my daughter's flight out of Mexico to the UK was cancelled and I know the airline policy at the time should have enabled me to use credit to re-route - there was one flight being sold by that airline at the time that would have worked (not to mention other affiliated flights). At the time, the airline told me that they agreed I could re-route and that they had forwarded authorisation but the agency told me on the phone that they had received nothing and could not buy a new ticket without it. I am being told now by the agency that the airline said there were no alternative flights and this is why a new ticket could not be issued against that credit. However, I have looked up flights for July when this happened and what I see confirms what I was seeing online at the time - that there was one night flight each day from Mexico to Paris with that airline. This route is the same that I then used to get her home with a new ticket that I bought with borrowed funds. I feel like there was a breakdown in communication and in systems at a difficult time and would be open to a non-refund solution of extending the credit deadline or transferring it to another family member. Should I drop it or is there a way forward? I guess the biggest problem is that it is all overseas companies (I am in Nz). The ticket agent is in the US and the Airline is Aeromexico. I would appreciate any advice you can offer.… read more

I am making an enquiry about the refunding of an domestic air fare . I was travelling to Israel via a group tour when the coronavirus emerged. We were booked on Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong, who in turn cancelled the booked flights. I had made an return online booking with Air NZ to fly from Wellington to Auckland, for myself and a friend.,after which we decided not to go.I rang the airline requesting a refund or a credit, explaining to them the situation and after much to-ing and fro-ing I was informed the request was declined. I asked if I could obtain a credit could I use it to to fly to OZ but it was stated that because I had brought a domestc flight this was not applicable to transfer to an international credit, but that I could use … read more

I'm not sure really who to help for help. So sorry if I'm in
Hi. I'm not sure really who to help for help. So sorry if I'm in the wrong place. My son went on a united airlines flight to San Francisco on Thursday with a connecting flight to Newark and then finally onto Quebec in Canada. He didn't realize he needed a visa for USA as it was just connecting flights before arriving in Canada. He has a visa for Canada only. United airlines did not pick this up at check in at auckland Airport and he boarded the plane and arrived in San Francisco. There they said he had to gave a visa and the airline should not have let him on the plane. He was detained fro 27 hours with no phone or buggage and was not able to contact any of us who were wortied sick where was. He has got deported on his visa and never allowed back to USA. All this for a naive and stupid mistake that he made. United airlines should never have let him on the plane at auckland airport. Now he will always have this on his passport and may have trouble entering other countries. Is there anyway can be revoked and an official explanation be given from united airlines for their part of letting him board so this won't affect him for life. He was going to Canada for the first time to visit his girlfriend in Quebec Canada. Thanks for any advice you can give me. … read more
