Was this car taken by the woman? What was her relationship to your son?

Ask Your Own New Zealand Law Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
he met her once the second time is when she stole car.
Solicitor: Chris The Lawyer, Lawyer replied 8 months ago

Your son can go get the car from the current person in possession of it. He must also register a property security on the car. What is the car worth?

Ask Your Own New Zealand Law Question
Solicitor: Chris The Lawyer, Lawyer replied 8 months ago

He is still the owner. Registration of the owner is not proof of ownership and he can get the car back. If someone bought the car they will need to sue the woman

Ask Your Own New Zealand Law Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
he bought car for $450 I think it was his new hobby. to fix it etc
Solicitor: Chris The Lawyer, Lawyer replied 8 months ago

He could go to the Disputes Tribunal and sue the woman

ok but what about the cop? he was manipulating everything and instead of getting car back he lied, one min he said car in his yard. another cop said tow truck got it, we didn't know who to believe or what to do
Solicitor: Chris The Lawyer, Lawyer replied 8 months ago

Normally I would suggest the IPCA but they appear to have not looked at this closely. You could try them again now that you have more information about what happened

complaint authority said case closed. reason being son said so, but this is not true. what advice can you give on the whole situation? it's unfair justice. we went online police site check if car was reported ztolen..it was not. Cop lied from the start and said son not getting his car back so he gave it back to their who sold it twice. we don't no whose got it. any advice how to get it back plz?
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
gave it back to the theif
Solicitor: Chris The Lawyer, Lawyer replied 8 months ago

If you can find the car you can do get it from the person who has it. But you need to register on the Personal Securities Register first with your sons interest as the owner. Does the girl have the car now? Did she have some dispute with your son which is why she took the car?

no she was just a one night fling. but lied to police she sold the car for money to feed her habit.. friends told son. where does he go fling personal register? can police do what this cop did? can they cum son house 1am stay till 3.30am manipulating the course of justice just bcoz he's a cop?

for and do personal register. how much is it
Solicitor: Chris The Lawyer, Lawyer replied 8 months ago

That site explains about the securities register.

The problem is that if she is telling one story but your son says something else, then the police are reluctant to act. So I think sue the woman in the Disputes Tribunal and get a court judgment against her if you want

How much is it to get advice? ok.. my step son owed his
ok.. my step son owed his father and I money and we were pressing him to pay some off.He lived at our address and so my step son transferred his car a BMW which he had had for a few years into my husbands name at the end of June as part payment for the debt. he did not come home for a few days and yesterday we learnt that he had skipped the country and has left a trail of debt. He had continued to drive the car as we really didn't want it. We dont' know where the car is...when we tried to report the car as stolen the police refused saying the ownership papers meant nothing. and we could not prove ownership....they suggested we remove my husbands name from the papers so that it goes back to the previous owner (his son overseas by ownership papers. I asked who owned the car and they said his son would...however soon after that I was contacted by his sons business partner who said they had an interest in the car and that they too were owed money. They said that my stepson was supposed to put it in the business name but put it in his own name but I doubt they can prove ownership any more than we can...Anyway that aside neither of us could figure out how we can report the car stolen if neither of us can prove ownership. which ever way one looks at it the one person who drove the car,my now absent stepson did/does not own it.. If we cannot report it stolen anyone could have it and buy/sell it on as there is no red flag to stop them. so my question is .should we suspend the registration on hold? in the intrim while we sort out ownership as it would show up if someone tries to pay the rego or my stepson tries to sneak back in the country or is there a way we can jointly report it stolen because it is either way and for whoever actually owns it in the end. is there any way a person can report another persons car stolen? … read more
