This can be a difficult issue. At this age children can form firm views about contact. The police don’t enforce contact so they won’t get involved but the father does have an option of getting an order to force contact. If he applied the Family Court judge would want to know why the boy was refusing and if it was appropriate to force him to visit despite his refusal. At this age a rational decision by the boy would certainly be considered
