Courier company has breached their own finance policy by
Courier company has breached their own finance policy by delivering my parcel and paying for import duties without my consent. I wasn't aware that I had to pay import duties as the item was partially gifted to me. I have made it clear to them that I cannot afford to pay import duties. I couple of days later they deliver the parcel. As I was corresponding with the company I purchased it from I thought they have paid import fees so I opened the parcel. Over 2 weeks later the courier company contacted me to let me know that they breached their finance policy by paying the outstanding amount and delivering the parcel and asking me to pay the outstanding amount. Due to the delay in correspondence from the courier company the return window has expired. They are forcing me to pay import duties which originally I said I cannot afford. Now they are threatening me that they will damage my credit rating if I will not pay. What rights do I have in this situation? Can they damage my credit rating even if I am corresponding with them?
