I am a new zealander living in the netherlands since january
I am a new zealander living in the netherlands since january 2009. I had moved from Hong Kong and was separated from my husband while in hong kong. He is new zealander and went back to new zealand. Has per NZ law we had to wait 2 years and our marriage was dissolved in july 2011. It was not amicable and i have not seen or spoken since i left hong kong. We had no property or children so there was no separation agreement. I know need to prove i was separately under Dutch law but do not know how. I know that when you apply for divorce you have to prove this but it was so long ago i did not keep the paper work. This came up as i am selling my house and they want to see proof of separation. I brought the house in december 2009. Can you advise. The problem is this was only found today and we are suppose to sign the house over on the 18th July. Thank you Kim Gooch … read more

How to get help with a New Zealand legal problem

The Experts have answered hundreds of questions, including questions like:

  • Can Maori land be changed to general, or a section with a house on it be surveyed and sold??
  • I currently have some charges under New Zealand gun laws. What can I do about the quantities being listed in the summary as much more than they actually were?
  • I’m in a custody battle, and my husband wants to take the children away from me for long periods even though I’ve been the primary caregiver. My barrister is tied up with other cases. Can my husband do that legally?
  • I’m concerned about my brother’s mental condition. I have Power of Attorney, so what are my rights to get him the help that he might need?

When you speak with an Expert on JustAnswer, be prepared to answer questions about:

  • The state where you live or the legal problem exists
  • What has been filed, reported or court-adjucated already
  • Any other circumstances that might impact the legal opinion

Having this information available will help the Expert give you an accurate, thorough answer.
