VerifiedThis is misleading and deceptive conduct in the course of trade which is actionable under the Fair Trading Act. If the dealer is a licensed car dealer you can claim against him in the Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal, which you can do without a lawyer. There have been a few similar cases and you should be asking for a full refund in this case. The Consumer Guarantees Act also gives a similar remedy
