We have approx. $800K in assets after we sell down assets and clear debt but some debt will remain after we liquidate. I earn $450K pa and my partner is seeking to go back to University next year then find a job 2017. Our twin girls are going to college in 2017 and will live with Maria in 2016 (10 days her, 4 days me) before going to Boarding school 2017.I'm proposing settlement of
- $350K cash to buy her freehold home and aplit the $800K, plus
- pay my child support as required, plus,
- pay her $75K over 3 years ($1000 per fortnight) in maintenance, plus
- I will take on the remaining debt (c$600-$700K) being family home debt, 1 rental property, $350K cash lump sum
- From 2017 I will soley pay for the girls education in lieu of child support (as this is far more expensive than the support)Does this deal seem fair / too generous / imbalanced? We are very amicable and endeavouring to agree a separation agreement in a collaborative way - neither wants to go to court or do battle with lawyers. We intend to live close by to co-parent. The decision to leave is hers and she wants to "do right by me" (she has had relations with others). I want to avoid any impost on my future earnings or a significant imbalance on what she is paid. BTW, She feels what is on the table is fair.What are thoughts?

Thanks Chris. Sorry I should have clarified our intent is to agree the terms of settlement, then present these to separate lawyers to create a binding agreement. I assume once we're happy, we will have to clear to instruct our lawyers on the basis to finalise the agreement not to relitigate. On this basis does the settlement proposal seem reasaonable?
