We have recently been the victims of a continuing spate of
We have recently been the victims of a continuing spate of wilful/intentional damage attacks on our boundary fence (a block wall). So far an 8metre section has been destroyed by a group of 6-7 children aged between 7 - 11. The damage occurs before and after school and during the weekends. We have identified the culprits and know their address which we have passed onto the police. The parents of the children are gang members and are well known to police. We made a police report after the first incident. After the last incident we called the police again, however we were informed then that no action can be taken unless we actually catch them in the act of damaging the wall as "no-ones life was in danger". We are struggling to comprehend the logic behind this statement as it essentially suggests anyone can carry out wilful damage and unless caught in the act no action will or can be taken. So our question is....are the police obliged to investigate further if we can provide definitive proof or is a 'low priority' crime such as this up to police discretion? By definitive proof we mean providing photos of the children involved. … read more
