Chris The Lawyer : If you have no conviction, there is no record of the arrest that anyone can search. So when you apply for jobs you can say you have a clean record. Conviction records are searchable by you and persons you authorise, but arrest records are not kept in the same way, and there is no register or record kept that can be looked at.

Thank you. That is good news. I may need to pay for another question ...I was on a student visa when this happened. The cost and length to fight it in court was too much and I was given a deal in which I agreed not to enter NZ for 5 years
Chris The Lawyer : That does get tied in with the result in the end, in that since you were not convicted, the visa action can be explained.

and then the charges were withdrawn. I believe I would have been found not guilty but it was futile to go through an 8+ month legal battle. My student visa also would have been revoked since I could not attend school. I have a completely clean background. Any recommendations on how I could get the immigration issue cleared?
