Chris The Lawyer : As the executor of the will you have free and open choice to use any lawyer you want. This is your choice, and not up to an unqualified legal secretary to give opinions about lawyers ethics, and your rights. That is up to the solicitor. If you sign an authority to the lawyer to pick up the will and the file he must give it to you. But why don't you have a discussion with the solicitor? If you need to find a new one, and he has the will and files, he could easily do the job. But the decision is up to you.
