If the property has been divided and is not of high value then you can just do nothing. If you want a formal property agreement you would need lawyers to advise each of you separately which would cost something. But as you are not married there is no need for a separation agreement. I assume the children have their own views on where they will live-the other issue could be child support until they turn 19.

Yes the children can decide where they want to live, and we used the inland revenue child support calculator to work out the payments. What I want is to finalise the property settlement so my ex partner can't come back later and want more. I presume from your answer that what I want is a propety agreement. Do we get one drawn up by a mediator, then each of us take it to a separate lawyer, then what? is it registered somewhere?
christhelawyer : To make the property agreement binding you must see a lawyer who certifies the agreement has been explained to you, and your ex needs to see her own lawyer. You can negotiate the terms between each other and the lawyers can just do the certifying if that works for you
