Under the Consumer Guarantees Act you can ask for either repair or repacement depending on the nextent of the defects

What would be the nextent of a defect

The test really comes down to whether the repaired bench top is adequate or whether they should completely replace. If it is minor and can be repaired without any visible signs of a repair then this would be adequate, but if the bench top is obviously fixed and is not what you paid for (a new bench tp) then they should replace.

Do we need to get another benchtop company to give an opinion or is that not necessary.

That would be a good idea-this gives you something to negotiate with the supplier

But botXXXXX XXXXXne is that we can refuse to accept the benchtop as it is and ask them to replace it rather than them attempting again to fix it and make it worse.

You can certainly ask for this if the benchtop is just not going to be what you paid for and will look repaired rather than brand new
