My friends husband and wife parted 9 years ago. They formed a legal trust and had the same lawyers all these years. They had two homes and therefore agreed to have 1 each. The husband added the mortgage of the second house to his current mortgage therefore making her house freehold and he paid the mortgage as well as helped pay rates etc when she wasn't able to. Their past wills read that on the death of the other the survivor would inherit everything but unbe-known to him she made another will in 2011 cancelling the first will with the same lawyers. She has since recently past away and the lawyers have contacted him to say they took out another will for her in 2011. He asked why he wasn't notified by them and feels betrayed because they had the same lawyers. There were also two children involved they are both in there 40's one is a stepson to the father and the current will gifts 84,000 from the trust to be divided between both boys. Is this ethical the stepson and son has contributed nothing to both properties not financially or otherwise. Is there anything he can do? … read more
