I'm having a shoulder pain in my left shoulder and when I…

I'm having a shoulder pain...

I'm having a shoulder pain in my left shoulder and when I try to extend (forward and sideway) or raise my left arm, it hurts. Previously I had slight pain (for a few years) when I raise my left arm to a certain height but recently (last 2 weeks or so) it's been greatly exacerbated since my 6 year old son has been sleeping on my arm. I thought it was going to go away over time but it's been many days and it's not getting any better. Today, I took a short nap by myself and when I woke up it got even worse even though I was not sleeping on it or any unseal position. What type of professional help should I seek? Should I look for physical therapists, chiropractors, or acupuncturists? I'm a 44 year old male if that helps.

Please see a physical therapist as it can be due to ligament strain or arthritis.

If the pain is not subsiding with exercises please see an orthopedic surgeon and get a X-ray to rule out any other conditions like severe arthritis, frozen shoulder.
