Is the first question free? My brother 66, on dialysis ,was
My brother 66 , on dialysis ,was radiated a right frontal lobe for one session due to supposed non biopsied non small cell tumor ,in Aug 2014 , This treatment created an inflamation in the brain that turned into a fluid filled cyst by May 2017 . I took him to a neurosurgeon who said that he needed a craniotomy because he also saw an edge in his brain that needed biopsied , so draining the cysts was not enough. in the procedure notes it says his dura was thin, and his brain collapsed after the draining making the surgery more complex. He was left with a huge right side hematoma jsut under the skin and other inside the brain. Half of the incision near his ear took 6 months to heal. Soon after a lesion developed in the area where the surgeon had told us would be sunken in because of the surgery. He of course did not tell me his sister and caregiver of this disabled man , that the titanium brackets where underneath that area that was going to be sunken in. I asked why and all he said was beause of the surgery and loss of muscle . He never followed his responsability to tell us what metals my brother had in his brain in case we traveled or just simply to know which is part of informed consent agreement that the doctor tell you what he put in your head to hold it together and where right ? Well soon after the half of the incision closed , a lesion in this sunken area started developing. We took it as a dermatological issue of basal cell as this area had been radiated and were told the tissue was weak. Well from Dec 1, 2017 when I took th efirst photogrpah to Feb 18, 2019 I had no idea what was really going on other than this would not heal. Finally on Feb 18 after cleanign the wound I detected without knowing a first imag of the titanium bracket . My brother then fell and the brackets were more evident , the opening of of 1/4 of inch to 1/2. I immediated contacted the surgeon who told me he would be happy to remove them without telling me for one second what another hospital told us that my brother had to go to the emergency room if the plaes were exposed running a rish of meningitis. Now we are horrified of the first neurosurgeon. The second one we wanted him to monitor my brothers brain pushed us back to the orignal surgeon and agreed that if the plates and bone were exposed that a craniectomy was due . But there are no bones exposed. He has been with this lesion for a month now. Here is my question : … read more
