I don't understand my brain mri report. HISTORY: Memory
HISTORY: Memory impairment TECHNIQUE: Coronal and sagittal T1, sagittal FLAIR, axial T2, FLAIR, gradient and DWI. COMPARISON: None available. FINDINGS: There is no restricted diffusion or acute territorial infarct. The ventricles and basilar cisterns are symmetric in size and configuration. No evidence of midline shift or mass effect. Normal vascular flow voids identified at the skull base. Scattered T2 and FLAIR hyperintense foci identified in subcortical and periventricular white matter which are nonspecific. No definite evidence of involvement of the corpus callosum. No evidence of extra-axial hemorrhage. Sagittal images demonstrate normal midline structures. No susceptibility artifact within the brain parenchyma on the gradient series to suggest any hemosiderin deposition. The visualized paranasal sinuses and bilateral mastoid air cells are well aerated. The bilateral orbits are symmetric and unremarkable. IMPRESSION: No acute intracranial process. 2. Scattered T2 hyperintense foci in the subcortical and perv entricular white matter which are nonspecific. Differential is broad including mild chronic microvascular ischemic changes and demyelinating process. … read more

I had a MRI. What does this mean?.... No evidence of acute
No evidence of acute intracranial hemorrhage or ischemia. No abnormal diffusion restriction or susceptibility. Mild to moderate global atrophy with commensurate enlargement of ventricles and sulci. Mild nonspecific white matter disease. No identified mass. No mass effect or midline shift. No extra axial fluid collection is seen. Large vascular flow voids are grossly patent. Basal cisterns are patent. No acute osseous finding. Sinuses, mastoids, and middle ears are predominantly well aerated with minimal sinus disease at the inferior left maxillary sinus. Orbits and globes appear intact. Scalp soft tissues are unrevealing. … read more

TECHNIQUE: Multisequence multiplanar imaging of the brain was performed without contrast.COMPARISON: NoneFINDINGS:No evidence of acute transcortical infarct, acute hemorrhage, extra-axial collection, or mass effect. Tiny focus of magnetic susceptibility effect in the posterior left subinsular white matter and additionally in the right thalamus. Ventricles are normal in size and configuration. Basal cisterns are patent.Major intracranial flow voids appear maintained. Orbits are unremarkable. Moderate mucosal thickening in the paranasal sinuses, most pronounced in the bilateral frontal sinuses, right maxillary sinus, right sphenoid sinus, and ethmoid air cells.
