Hello!
Iam ruined my mind is only thinking about one thing and its the most awful disease that has been recognized (ALS). Iam 25 years old and healthy with no family history of this disease.
Everything started with full body twitching it went on 24/7 non stop then after two weeks it stopped, one day after my calfes started to twitch and they are going non stop with some random body twitches, it has been like this for two months.
I went to my doctor he told me that iam fine twitching shouldnt be any concern if I dont have weakness. He gave me a medication for muscle relaxation, it hasnt helped at all.
About weakness I feel that my legs are tired even tough I dont use them. I go to the gym and lift heavy weights the same as I did before nothing has changed. That should mean I dont have any weakness or? What should I do Iam going crazy this has taken over my life...

it sounds like you have bad anxiety symptoms causing you to worry

you should talk to your doctor about treatment for bad anxiety symptoms

there are medications like sertraline, fluoxetine, paroxetine which can help decrease anxiety symptoms.

medications like diazepam, clonazepam can help decrease anxiety

hydroxyzine, and propranolol can help as well

you should keep regular exercise as well

you don't have ALS.

I'm worried because my calfes have been twitching non stop for two months and its one way for ALS to express it self thats what makes me so afraid! And about the weakness I feel in my legs, if it was real weakness from ALS would I have the strength to keep the same amount of weights like I used to?
Neurologist: Dr. David, Board Certified MD replied 3 months ago

that twitching is from benign fasciculations from your anxiety symptoms

and not from ALS.

Ask Your Own Neurology Question
Neurologist: Dr. David, Board Certified MD replied 3 months ago

you would not be lifting weights if you had ALS

you don't have ALS.

One last thing doesnt ALS start with fasciculations?
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
you dont think I should go to a neurologist to examine me and see if I have any clinical weakness, atrophy, bad reflexes and have an emg test?
Neurologist: Dr. David, Board Certified MD replied 3 months ago
You don’t need these testing. It will show normal nerve conduction studies. You should talk to your doctor about treatment for anxiety symptoms

I will give you an excellent feedback if you just tell how you are sure that my 24/7 twitching in my calfes isnt any indication of ALS and that my testing will show its normal.
Neurologist: Dr. David, Board Certified MD replied 3 months ago

because you are able to get out of bed and lift weights at the gym

you would not be able to do this if you had ALS.
