Recent MRI shows "Focal...

Recent MRI shows "Focal right periventricular white matter T2 hyperintensity
adjacent to the right frontal horn, compatible with nonspecific
gliosis from previous ischemia." I am a healthy 34-year-old female. Non-smoker, exercises regularly, decent diet, normal weight. No outstanding medical history other than anxiety and frequent headaches. Is this finding something I should have investigated? Or a normal finding?

Doctor's Assistant: Is the headache episodic or daily? And what about nausea?

Nausea with migraines. Headaches occur regularly (approx 1-2x per week), but not daily. Migraines appox 1x per month.

Recent MRI performed on 2/21/17. Comparison was made to an outside MRI performed on 01/24/2013 with the following findings:"The focal periventricular gliosis with a small central cyst adjacent
to the right frontal horn is unchanged, compatible with remote
ischemic insult. "

Hello, this is Dr. David. I am reviewing your question now and will be with you momentarily.

Neurologist: Dr. David, Board Certified MD replied 6 months ago

this is most likely a normal finding

these small bright spots on T2 weighted brain scans are often due to small broken blood vessels in the brain

we can have small broken blood vessels all over our bodies, on our skin

these can be seen for months and years after they happen in the brain

you don't need more testing

are you getting your anxiety symptoms treated?
