Maybe, Having some probably unfounded worries about ALS

Doctor's Assistant: Do you have frequent headaches? Any issues with coordination or balance?

I have had a headache for about 2 weeks. No issues with coordination or balance

Doctor's Assistant: Is the headache episodic or daily? And what about nausea?

Daily, no nausea, but less appetite

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

I have crohn's disease, that is the big thing

Hello I'm Dr Chip

What exactly is your question about this please?

Ask Your Own Neurology Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
Daily headaches for 2 weeks, now some muscle twitching. I'm worried about ALS
Neurologist: Dr Chip (M.D.), Doctor replied 10 months ago

Can you tell me more about the headache?

Ask Your Own Neurology Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
Dull headache, mainly in the temples, but sometimes I feel it around back too
Neurologist: Dr Chip (M.D.), Doctor replied 10 months ago

OK--now more about the muscle twitching please?

Ask Your Own Neurology Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
Started a few days ago. Feel it in my hands and left calf. Mild, but noticeable
Neurologist: Dr Chip (M.D.), Doctor replied 10 months ago

And have you ever had that before?

How long do those last?

Ask Your Own Neurology Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
I've had leg cramps before, but never noticed twitching. They are brief in duration and do not hurt
Neurologist: Dr Chip (M.D.), Doctor replied 10 months ago

OK--before we go any further, it will help me greatly if you first tell me why any of this makes you concerned about ALS

Ask Your Own Neurology Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
Headache, twitching are symptoms. Not other reason. No family history.
Neurologist: Dr Chip (M.D.), Doctor replied 10 months ago

Well, not really symptoms specific to ALS

With ALS there's muscle weakness involved and not just random twitching

Your headache sounds like a typical tension-type headache

As for the twitches, that could be from a magnesium or calcium deficiency but they may actually be nonspecific and not a sign of any disease at all

So I'd suggest you have your doctor check this out with some blood work

But nothing you've told me so far gives me he slightest indication you have ALS

Please let me know if you need any more information
