Well carpel tunnel is the passage or canal in our wrists through which median nerve passes. Any compression due to factors like obesity, hypothyroidism, RA etc can lead to irritation of nerve causing symptoms like tingling, burning or pain in the areas of hand supplied by the nerve.
Surgery involves decompressing the nerves by cutting the transverse carpal ligament , which releases pressure on the median nerve and relieves the symptoms of carpal tunnelsyndrome.
When the tendons in your finger or thumb become inflamed, they can become stuck or locked into a bent position. When the tendons in your hands and arms become inflamed or irritated, they cannot move as readily through the thin tunnel of ligament that holds them in place. When this happens, you will notice pain, stiffness, and a snapping or popping sound.
Repetitive motion and some medical conditions can cause trigger finger.
Trigger finger surgery works by widening the tunnel that the impacted tendon travels through, alleviating your stiffness and pain.
Its different to carpel tunnel surgery in that it involves the tunnel of tendon involved.
