Customer Question

My dad has a very bad headache for the past couple of weeks. He is saying, more than a headache his head feels so heavy and at times he feels numbness around his head. It starts from front but then kind of spread to the back. During that time he feels very uneasy and difficult to concentrate or understand if anyone else speaks. He also says during that time he can feel something is running inside his head.....he is 67 years old got high blood pressure and diabetes. Can you please advise what might be the reason for these symptoms?

Did you check his blood pressure when he gets head ache?

Does he vomit while having head ache?

How long does head ache last?

Does he take any medication for head ache and gets relief by taking it?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
His pressure is around 130/88. It last for couple of hours. No, he doesn't vomit or anything. He hardly takes any medication for this but in one or two occasion he took paracetamol. That helped a bit for a while. but then the pain come back again.

Thanks for the additional information.

Tension headache is the most common type of headache.

The symptoms you have mentioned fit in to tension headache.

Stress is the most common trigger.

Paracetamol and stress relief methods would help.

I would also advise him to get MRI brain done not miss any lesion inside.

The blood pressure should also be kept at control as high blood pressure can cause heaviness in the head
