Customer Question

I took a funny step last Friday (after already having a strain in my calf muscle) & felt a big "pop" in my left calf. I immediately was in pain & couldn't walk on left foot. Now, 6 days later, even though it's still sore, I can walk but my left leg has been cold since the injury & the cold is now running from above my knee down my left leg all the way to my toes. What's wrong???

Hello and welcome. I'm Dr Chip

Is the leg swollen and is there any change in skin color?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Slight swelling. Small bruise on top of calf just at back side of knee

OK. While you may have had a calf muscle tear, I'm concerned about all this and how long it's gone on.

You may have a deep venous thrombosus--a clot in a deep leg vein--and that can lead to a life-threatening pulmonary embolus.

You need to see a doctor now for this and get Doppler venous flow studies since if you have a DVT you'll need to be given blood thinners
