I am having sporadic pain in my foot, on the outer edge near my small toe, at first it was like an electric shock and traveled from my foot up my leg to my spine. Now its a stabbing 10/10 on the pain scale, that last near 30 seconds at a time. I am not sure what to do or who to see. it happens unexpectedly about 6 times a day
JA: Do you keep personal medical records to help track this?

Hello and welcome. I'm Dr Chip

Since the pain not only involves your foot but goes up your leg, this is likely a disk problem in your lower back.

For now you need rest and leg elevation and ibuprofen but you need to see your doctor for an exam and an MRI of your lumbar spine. I usually treat my patients with ruptured disks with a referral to a physiatrist-- a physical medicine and rehabilitation MD specialist--for a customized physical therapy program that usually relieves the symptoms.
