Hello again,

Actually the answer here is YES, physical therapy does help in pain management of bursitis or rather trochanteric bursitis. There has been a documented role of it helping in early healing in many patients. However the key here is to seek the right physiotherapist who knows the anatomy and the condition, so that he can prescribe the right exercises which can reduce the tension on your hip. So YES you should start undergoing physical therapy but only AFTER getting the cortisone shot as that would first reduce the inflammation and then you can undergo physical therapy more easily.
