Hi, I am an American Board Certified Neurologist with experience in treating all neurological and all other medical conditions including the concerns of new symptoms of scary strong sound & electricity like feeling occurring during your sleep you have mentioned here, and I am very glad to help you with your health concerns.

First I will ask few questions so that I can gather additional information related to your health concerns;

1) Are there any other symptoms like shaking, stiffening, tongue bites, bladder incontinence, confusion, disorientation etc?

2) Have you been already diagnosed with any neurological disorders so far?

3) Any excessive stress, anxiety disorder, panic disorder etc?

4) Are you on any medications/treatments at this moment?

Best regards,

Hi, I had asked few questions above earlier and I have not received any reply from you so far. I am not sure whether you are facing some technical glitches or whether you are busy now. What I thought in the meantime is to post some information here related to your new symptom, please go through this information and follow up with me and we can discuss this further.

Coming to the discussion;

There are conditions like Exploding head syndrome which can present like this with the new symptoms you have mentioned above. This usually occurs when some one in rapidly coming off certain medications like benzodiazepines, or SSRI agents etc, but rarely it can occur by itself without any obvious precipitating factors

This condition presents with strong & intense symptoms and obviously sounds scary, but this is a benign condition

Your new symptom does not look like any other neurological issues like seizures, bleeding in the brain, brain tumors etc, rather this sounds like a benign condition as mentioned earlier above

While this appear to be a benign condition but you still need a brain scan like CAT scan or MRI scan, and an EEG (Study of the brain wave), and also certain blood tests to check your electrolytes, thyroid etc

These tests are done just to make sure there is nothing else causing or contributing to your above mentioned new symptom

But like I mentioned earlier, this is most likely a benign condition, this appears to be exploding head syndrome, or some other benign condition

This condition is usually self-limiting

If this persists or recurs then this can be treated with meds like Clomipramine or Topiramate etc which can help.

Please go through the above information and please let me know if you have any further questions or if you want any further clarifications related to your new symptom and we can discuss this further.

Best regards
