Customer Question

My son is 13 years old and had a seizure about an hour after he fell asleep it lasted a minute and then he was really out of it for the next 5 min. He went back to bed and woke up just fine. I think he has had more then one since January maybe 3 I just had no idea what was wrong with him. He couldn't stand and his pupils were really dialated and his speech was slurred.

This is Dr. David

I am sorry about your son.

was he having a fever when he had his seizure.

you should bring him to see a doctor or pediatric neurologist right away for evaluation

he needs a seizure workup with a brain scan and EEG.

some children can have seizures when they have fevers. these are febrile seizures, but is more common in babies and infants and most children grow out of it.

do you have a doctor or pediatrician you can bring him to see?
