Im sorry to hear about your osteoarthritis however i am glad to know that weight loss has brought a lot of relief from the pain.
Now regarding the cartilage in the joint, well you have already tried glucosamine and chondritin sulfate which has some efficacy in improving the cartilage inside the joint. However there is one more treatment which can be tried and this is in the form of Hyaluronic acid injections directly into the joint. certain studies have shown its efficacy in improving the cartilage inside the joint however it is not a 100% guarantee. It does work in some patients while in other patients it isnt very effective. If you do get these injections, then you will get three to five injections spaced a week apart.
Now regarding the exercises, the best way to determine which exercises would be the best for you, you should visit a physiotherapist. He can judge the extent of the arthritis and determine which exercises would be most beneficial for you. Here are a few links with exercises which you can try at home however i would recommend that you first visit a physiotherapist before starting them,
