Are there regulations governing the amount of neuro checks

Customer Question

are there regulations governing the amount of neuro checks you have to do after an unwitnessed fall in a snf with or with head trauma?
I'm a DON in a CA. snf and would like to reduce the amount of checks we have to do. if there is no deviation from baseline and no evidence of head trauma do we have to cont. with the standard neuro checks

This is Dr. David

there are no set state or federal regulations on this.

the number of neuro checks depends on the facility and the doctors there who are ordering the neuro checks.

this can vary from facility to facility.

have you talked to other nursing supervisors at other facilities about what they do there?
